Textile Cape with Beaded Body Chains - "Huipil Capa", teal/olive
Our Huipil Capa shoulder pieces are all magnificent pieces of wearable art and each one very unique. The textile used is from up-cycled textile from the traditional, Mayan huipil which is a poncho style blouse with different styles of handmade textiles. Each style of textile/pattern defines where the textile is from, meaning that each community of Mayans wear their respective textile depending on the community they are from.
We know that these textiles are precious so we make sure to use each little piece of textile from the original blouses to make textile earrings or bracelets.
This huipil cape have textile which is hand-embroidered in the town of Patzún close to Chimaltenango. This community is famous for embroidering the most colorful and detailed floral patterns. We have added our signature ceramic beads that connects the textile on the front. The lines of beads fall gracefully across the chest, and wearing any one of these pieces will surely make heads turn.
Each piece comes with a handmade "tipico" bag.
How to wear it: Wear it over a simple dress or top as a statement piece for those special events like gallery openings, festivals, or even as your accessory for a wedding.
Size description: This piece is a medium in terms of beaded chain length. Nevertheless, it will adapt to your body and shape. You can adjust the look by positioning it on the shoulders (see model photos for size reference).
Everything is handmade by Mayan artisans in Guatemala.
