Inspired by imagined birds of the cosmos, this ceremonial poncho pairs two embroidered birds with a richly patterned textile. Colourful geometric shapes stand out against a dark background, reflecting the design’s inspiration in Mayan cosmology, the sky and the sun.

A single polished black jade button closes the front.

Handmade Details

Approximately 200 strands of handmade ceramic beads form the fringe, from the short rows beneath the birds to the long strands falling across the body. Cream, black and bright bands of colour match the textile, giving the piece movement with every step.

Each strand is carefully assembled by experienced artisans, with patience and attention to colour and detail.

Birds Embroidered by Hand

Two pale gold birds spread their wings against warm brown panels. Small touches of pink, green and blue connect their embroidery to the colours of the surrounding textile.

We recommend to not shower or swim with your new jewelry, however a bit of splashes and sweat won't damage the piece. When not using the jewelry, hang it or lay it out flat. The piece can handle being dropped and folded gently but try not to squash it between two hard surfaces.
